North Dakota’s Northern Plains UAS Test Site is working to push the boundaries of what is possible with unmanned aircraft. We were challenged to help launch its beyond-visual-line-of-sight UAS system, Vantis, and promote the capabilities and economic benefits to the state and the larger aviation world.
A striking visual identity, unique name and compelling website created the initial buzz, while digital promotion, original content and events grew the recognition and anticipation of Vantis. Aspirational booth graphics and exhibits made sure Vantis drew in industry members and the public at tradeshows.
North Dakota became the country’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems epicenter after more than a decade of investment and research. Now it’s taking the next step, launching a statewide UAS network with the infrastructure to spur economic development and innovation. The state needed our full support in creating the network brand, Vantis, and promoting it to the industry and beyond.
Utilizing our Ascend process, we honed in on North Dakota’s true value proposition: Its first-of-its-kind statewide network was uniquely was positioned to open up UAS commercialization and entice entrepreneurs. From there we created the bold, memorable Vantis name, which served as a shorthand to market the complex and technical concepts of backhaul data networks and command and control radios.
After creating a logo and brand standards from scratch, we built out a full website. The site serves as a one-stop repository for information, telling the network’s story, and promoting its capabilities through content and infographics. Strong calls-to-action prompt potential partners and users to leverage the network and shows how Vantis works for North Dakota.
We worked with the Vantis team to prepare all aspects of the grand unveiling at UAS Summit, supporting a presentation, video, social media and news release. We coordinated media outreach, ensuring that Vantis made waves throughout aviation and business communities. Tracked analytics on online, radio and TV articles showed Vantis reached an audience of more than 5 million people, generating more than $145,000 worth of earned publicity, in the first two weeks after launch.
