Kansas State Fair Blog
By Sonia Greteman
It’s been a wild ride baby, developing the new campaign for the Kansas State Fair. Now it’s time to unleash our latest creative on the world.
The team at Greteman Group savored the last few months cooking up a new campaign for one of our very favorite friends. They happen to be one of those dream clients who inspire us to take chances – and love it when the state starts buzzing.
We kicked off our big ol’ 2010 strategy session hanging out together (client and agency), with everyone contributing, pushing to nail just the right angle, stretch more, reach for zanier.
Armed with page after page of Fair oddities and top-secret information, we pulled our team together for a rowdy brainstorm. The clouds opened up and the ideas hailed down, ricocheting around the room. Our goal: 100 ideas, because the only thing better than a good idea is a bushel of good ideas. That gives us plenty to work with, whittle down, mold into something wild, weird and wonderful.
The creatives sketched and scribbled, doodled and debated, grinned and guffawed. And Voila! We had a winner.
We understand the challenges families are facing this year looking for fun on a budget. Sheep Thrills – a play on “cheap thrills” – instantly conveys that the Fair is darned affordable and a blast, too.
We didn’t forget about the teens and their unending quest for an adrenaline rush. That’s where Rad Rave
(Raving Bull) comes in, dispensing the coooool factor.
Lori Mulch, our marketing diva and all-around game-for-anything boss, already has a full-time schedule lined up for “Rave.” So be on the lookout for this feisty bull. And don’t forget your glow stick and shades.
