The Kansas State Fair has received numerous Awards of Distinction representing the Hall of Honor Communications and Competitive Exhibits from the International Association of Fairs and Expositions (IAFE) headquartered in Springfield, MO.
Presented recently at the annual International Association of Fair and Expositions Convention, the Kansas State Fair was presented with Best Advertising Campaign for fairs in Division Three, Best Newspaper Ad-Color Print, Best Radio, and Best Television. In addition, The Kansas State Fair received 1st Place, in its respective division, for Competitive Exhibit Display Method and/or Prop. Division Three encompasses national and international fairs with attendance of 250,000-500,000. Examples include the Arkansas State Fair, Missouri State Fair and Expo Quebec, located in Quebec City.
Denny Stoecklein, Kansas State Fair general manager, responded, “Kansans can be proud of their State Fair. We continue to successfully compete with fairs on an international level. It isn’t often folks have the opportunity to visit other fairs to see they truly have a winner in their own back yard. We continue to garner support from our media partners and rely on the creativity and expertise of Greteman Group.”
The IAFE awards work to encourage fair members to share best practices and ideas that will advance the industry. There are a total of 14 Distinguished Award categories for the Hall of Honor Communications, each divided into five divisions by attendance. Entries are judged by advertising, promotions, media, and public relations professionals from across the United States.
Weird, wild and wonderful, the Kansas State Fair has it all. With a world-class Midway, blue-ribbon animals galore and activities for the whole family, the fair is pure Americana — an event not to be missed. “Check Out the Studs,” party with your pals and hear the hottest performers at the Sprint Grandstand. Tour the many agricultural and educational displays. Win prizes, brave the heart-pounding carnival rides and sample the culinary delights. Enormous vegetables, odd artifacts, homemade crafts and the infamous butter sculpture — there is something for everyone. Scheduled for September 11-20, 2009, the fair is the largest event in the state of Kansas with crowds expected to number more than 340,000. The newly renovated fairgrounds are in centrally located Hutchinson, Kansas. Mark your calendars now and plan to join Kansans from across the state. It’s a wild ride, baby!
